Implantation Bleeding or Period?

Implantation Bleeding

Implantation bleeding, or is it a period? This article will answer your questions about implantation bleeding symptoms, normal colors, what heavy implantation bleeding means, and more.

Implantation bleeding can be mistaken for a normal period, especially for women trying to conceive. Even if you aren’t actively wanting to get pregnant, but you’ve missed your period and are now experiencing light spotting, you may be worried and asking yourself – “Is this Implantation Bleeding or a Period?” It can definitely be confusing, and worrisome, as implantation bleeding is one of the very first signs of pregnancy.

Women with irregular periods can also easily confuse implantation bleeding for a period, because sometimes, when you have irregular menstrual cycles, you don’t always have a regular flow. Some months can be lighter than others, and this can definitely make you worried about whether or not you’re pregnant.

Implantation bleeding becomes even more complex when you consider the timing of it.

A normal period, for women with a healthy 28-day cycle, occurs 14 days after you ovulate. Since most women conceive the week they ovulate (when they are most fertile), implantation usually takes place between 10 and 14 days after ovulation. This timing makes ovulation bleeding coincide with the same time your normal period would start, which can make it very confusing to distinguish implantation bleeding with a light period.

This can become even more complicated, if you have longer or shorter menstrual cycles. A woman’s menstrual cycle can range from 21 days on the shorter end, to 35 days on the longer end. If you are a teenager, your menstruation cycle can range from 21 to 45 days. If your cycle falls outside of the normal 28-day cycle, figuring out implantation can be hard. You’ll have to figure out when you ovulate. You can use a period app, an fertility monitor (like the ) to help monitor when you ovulate and are fertile.

What is Implantation Bleeding?

Implantation bleeding is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. Not every pregnant woman will experience it; some will and some won’t.

During implantation, the newly fertilized egg (called the blastocyst, because right now, your future baby is only a rapidly growing ball of cells) has made its way from the fallopian tubes to your uterus, where it will now completely embed itself within the lining of the uterus.

Because of the complex nature of conception and pregnancy, only half of these blastocysts will successfully implant themselves in the uterine lining. Those that fail to embed will get shed, along with all the uterine tissue, and you’ll end up having a very early miscarriage. Sometimes, these are called “chemical pregnancies,” and most women who experience them never realized they were pregnant in the first place. The bleeding that results will be like a normal menstrual period.

If the fertilized egg is successful in embedding itself into your uterine lining, you may experience some light bleeding (known as spotting or staining). This is implantation bleeding.

An estimated 25 percent of pregnant women experience implantation bleeding and light bleeding in early pregnancy, but most of these cases end up being fine and the woman has a full-term baby.

Length of Implantation Bleeding

For most women who experience implantation bleeding, they will notice light bleeding for only one or two days. However, there’s no “hard” rule on how long implantation bleeding will list, since every pregnancy and every woman is different. For some women, implantation bleeding is very light, similar to one of the last days of your period, or a very light period day, when you just need to wear a panty liner.

Your implantation bleeding can last only a couple of hours, and then it’s gone. For other women, they might have spotting on and off for a couple of days. However, there are even others who claim that they had heavier implantation bleeding that lasted up to four days, just like an average length of a period.

Because the length of implantation bleeding is different for every woman, take a home pregnancy test if you are worried that you might be pregnant.

Like with a normal menstrual period, implantation bleeding will stop on its own.

Implantation Bleeding or Period?

Are you having menstrual bleeding or heavy implantation bleeding? If you are sexually active and having unprotected sex, you should always assume that you could be pregnant.

If you think that your spotting or bleeding could be implantation bleeding, ask yourself some questions.

  • How heavy is your flow?
  • What color is the blood?
  • Is there a pattern to the bleeding? Is it on and off, or a continuous flow of blood?

You are probably experiencing implantation bleeding and not a regular menstrual period in the following situations:

  • Your menstrual flow is scanty – on and off – and spotty. You aren’t continually bleeding, like with a regular period. You notice blood when you wipe, but it’s not a gush of blood.
  • The blood that comes out is pinkish to brownish. It is not heavy like a period.
  • The pattern of vaginal bleeding doesn’t follow the normal rhythm of your menstrual period. In a normal period, the flow starts off light, then gets heavier and heavier, and at the tail end of your period, the flow becomes light again.
  • You notice bleeding a couple of days, or a week before your scheduled period. Though implantation bleeding can occur at roughly the same time as your period, it can occur before your normal period.

If your periods have always been regular, and suddenly, you experience some spotting or light bleeding, you should take a home pregnancy test.

When your vaginal bleeding is a result of a regular period and not implantation bleeding, you will have a normal flow. The bleeding will be light at first and steadily become more moderate in flow and then heavy. For the last one or two days, you will have light, on and off bleeding, similar to implantation bleeding. Period blood is always bright red, and it can come with clots. You may have uncomfortable menstrual cramps, backaches, bloating, and feel pretty yucky while on your period.

Women with irregular or abnormal menstrual periods may experience their periods differently, but I am speaking in general about normal menstrual periods. If you have irregular periods, it may be very hard for you to know if it’s implantation bleeding or a period. So take a home pregnancy test to be sure whether or not you’re pregnant.

Comparison Chart – Implantation Bleeding vs. Period

As you can see from the below comparison chart, there are differences between implantation bleeding and normal period bleeding can be similar, but there are enough differences that if you pay attention to the flow, you can tell them apart.

This is a general comparison. Remember that every woman is different, but in general, these are the differences between Implantation Bleeding and a Period.

Implantation Bleeding Period Bleeding
Scanty menstrual flow; on and off; spotty. Pattern is not normal. Light bleeding.  Normal flow; Light at first, then heavy, and then light again.
Lasts a few hours to 1-2 days 3-5 days on average, can last up to 7 days
Usually pinkish to brownish blood. No clots. Bright red blood. With a heavy flow, may include clots.
Mild to moderate menstrual-like cramps.      Menstrual cramps.

*******

Sometimes, spotting can be indication that your period is about to stop. Some women will spot on and off a few days before your menstruation begins, and this can really make it confusing to know whether it’s implantation bleeding or a period. So if you experience spotting, wait a few days and if your period still hasn’t come, take a pregnancy test.

Implantation Bleeding Symptoms

Along with implantation bleeding, you may experience some cramping. They may feel like menstrual cramps. Implantation cramping can occur alone, or with bleeding.

Implantation cramps occur because as the fertilized egg (the blastocyst) burrows and embeds itself into the lining of your uterus, it can cause your uterine muscles to contract. These contractions can pinch on nerve endings, which can lead to menstrual-like cramping for 24 to 48 hours, though sometimes it can a little longer than that.

Researchers don’t know why some women experience implantation bleeding and cramping, and others don’t. It’s possible that some women are more tolerant of aches and pains, and others are more sensitive to it.

Along with implantation bleeding and cramping, you may start to experience other early pregnancy symptoms, including bloating, fatigue, mood swings and emotional changes, headaches, acne, and other bothersome symptoms.

Implantation Bleeding Color

The color of implantation bleeding can vary from woman to woman. In a majority of the cases, it’s pinkish in color. There is some variation on the implantation bleeding color, though. It can be bright red blood – signaling that it’s fresh blood, or new blood just shed by the uterine lining. Light brown to brownish blood – this is older blood, perhaps blood that was stuck in your uterine wall after the fertilized egg buried itself in your womb, and this blood has finally been shed – has also been reported as a normal implantation bleeding color.

As long as your implantation bleeding is not heavy or profuse, the color of your implantation blood doesn’t really matter. You should only experience spotting for a short amount of time, and you shouldn’t be experiencing much discomfort. However, if you are indeed pregnant, it’s a good idea to report your symptoms to your doctor and make sure you go in for all your prenatal visits to ensure your pregnancy is going well.

Can Implantation Bleeding Be Red?

Yes, implantation bleeding can be light to bright red in color. It can be normal to see red blood during implantation.

Bright red implantation bleeding signals that within your uterus or the uterine lining, there is an area that is actively bleeding, and blood is flowing from this area and out of you very quickly. It could be a sign that implantation has just taken place.

Can Implantation Bleeding Be Heavy?

Heavy implantation bleeding is not normal. Implantation bleeding is almost always light. You will notice it when you wipe and see blood on the bathroom tissue. Normal implantation bleeding should not be profuse, as this can signal that a miscarriage is occurring. You will want to contact your doctor if you notice heavy implantation bleeding to check out what is causing your heavy vaginal bleeding.

Heavy Implantation Bleeding

Because it is not normal to have heavy implantation bleeding, you will want to check with your gynecologist or healthcare provider to see if your pregnancy is still healthy, or if there is something else causing your heavy implantation bleeding.

Heavy bleeding can be a sign that you are miscarrying. It could also be a sign of an ectopic or tubal pregnancy – one that occurs when the fertilized egg implants itself in another part of your body; in most cases, in the fallopian tubes. Molar pregnancies – a pregnancy in which the embryo is missing but all the other tissues are still there – can also cause heavy bleeding.

So bottom line – check with your doctor about any heavy bleeding that you’re experiencing, especially if you think you are pregnant.

Why Home Pregnancy Tests are Important

If you have normal periods with an average flow, you shouldn’t have any trouble telling implantation bleeding from a menstrual period. However, if your periods are irregular, usually lighter in flow, you will need to take a home pregnancy test, or contact your gynecologist or healthcare provider and request a blood pregnancy test.

Testing for pregnancy will be the only way to tell whether or not you’re pregnant. You cannot verify your pregnancy without one.

You can only test for pregnancy after you’ve missed your period. Home pregnancy tests are not accurate until the day of your missed period (at the earliest). Don’t jump the gun and test too early. Their may not be enough human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) in your blood stream yet. This pregnancy hormone first enters your bloodstream, and finally into your urine, which is the reason blood pregnancy tests are usually more accurate earlier on.

When buying a home pregnancy test, pay attention to the sensitivity, which will be printed on the packaging. Pregnancy tests sensitivities can range between 10 to 40 mIU/ml. Obviously, the lower the level, this means the lower concentration of hCG needs to be in your bloodstream before pregnancy can be detected. Testing too early can give you a negative result, even if you are indeed pregnant. So try to wait until your missed period, and test again if you think you are pregnant but the test reads negative.

Other First Signs of Pregnancy

In addition to implantation spotting and cramping, the other signs that you may be pregnant include breast changes (sensitive, tingly, swollen); extreme exhaustion and feeling insanely worn-out (similar to how you might feel during PMS but for some women, it feels 100 times worse); feeling nauseous; the need to pee all the time (frequent urination); and just feeling that something is off. Be on the lookout for your missed period – which is definitely the most obviously earliest sign of pregnancy. Pregnancy is so different for everyone. You might have only one or two of these symptoms, or none at all. But if you are ever worried, definitely take a test!

Ok, so around the 21st of August of this year I had this pink, almost like discharge, I continued to wipe it lasted maybe an hour then stopped. I thought that was pretty weird considering I wasn’t supposed to start until around August 31st. August rolls around and still no period. Here we are at the end of September and I am just now having a “period” I saw it and it was brown in color but also bright red was kinda heavy (no clots or anything) the first day then slowed down immediately. My periods are normally pretty regular. It is the 2nd day of this “period” and it’s practically gone. There are a few brown to red spots left on the tampon but nothing more. This normally never happens. I’m not trying for a baby, my first pregnancy was nothing like this. I took a home pregnancy test the second day of my missed period it came back negative. Help! Could I be pregnant!?

I was on a birth control pill but missed my pills. I have pregnancy symptoms its 3 weeks now after I had unprotected sex. Started bleeding but it was not a heavy flow as my regular periods. It lasted for 2 and half days. The ultrasound scan was negative. Can I be pregnant though for I still have symptoms of pregnancy

I am on birth control. During the time I was scheduled to get my period, it arrived one day late. The bleeding was a normal red. However, it only lasted one day. On the following day, my “bleeding” is more like light spotting to no blood. It is a brown color. What does this indicate? I’ve missed some birth control pills and have had sexual intercourse in the mean time. I do not understand why my “period” would be late, last one day, and afterward be a light to practically no “bleeding” brown color. Help?

I’m breastfeeding my 14 month old which has caused irregular periods. My first period after pregnancy was in Febuary of this year. My cycles range from 32-42 days and actually the month of April I got no period until the beginning of May. With my periods being so irregular it’s hard to track or know exactly when I ovulated. I use an ap that estimates when my next period will come and when I’ll ovulate. Last period was July 14-20. It says I should’ve ovulated July 29-August 4. With my next period being due August 23. Well I am a day late and still getting negative test. August 13th I started getting symptoms which include fatigue,Tightening in my stomach and then I have had off and on very light brown spotting for about a week. Is it possible I could be pregnant? I’ve never experienced spotting even being irregular. So this isn’t normal for me.I feel like I could be pregnant but don’t want to get my hopes up. Anyone have success getting a BFP with an irregular period and while breastfeeding? My OBGYN said to wait a week and test then if it’s negative test again in another two weeks. If they calculate how far along you are by the date of your last period wouldn’t a positive be coming up by now? If I count from my last period it’s about 6 weeks.

I went to the bathroom to pee and noticed some light pink spotting and as I kept wiping, it bled more and more until I was dripping blood in the toilet. I put a tampon in and the next day took it out and no blood was on it. 3 days later, my period started again and has been going on for 3 days now. I called a nurse and they didn’t know what to think or say.

Hello. I feel so stupid asking this but I been worrying. Me and my fiancé have been trying to have a baby for almost a year now. I was on depo and got off of it and was told it took about 6 months to get out of your system. Anyway I was suppose to start my period yesterday and when I got up that morning to go to the bathroom I had a light brown discharge, I figured it was my body telling me I was fixing to start my monthly because I been starting around this time. Well today I went to the bathroom and I am still having a brown discharge, some small cramps but nothing like the ones I have when I am having a full blown period. Could I be pregnant or could my period just be late? Someone please help ease my mind, I really don’t want to to get my hope up but I don’t want to not know. Im not even sure when I should take a pregnancy test. Thank you!

I’m scared I might be pregnant. I had unprotected sex on July 6th, but he just went in and out a couple times, no ejaculation. Then I started bleeding on July 10th when I wasn’t expecting to start my period until the 13th. I had a pad on for heavy flow and by the afternoon/evening it was full. I changed it evening time but before I went to bed, I checked and there was just a bit like if it stopped. I woke up the next morning and there was blood, but not enough to fill the pad. On the 13th if I remembered correctly, I woke up to a brownish discharge. I believed it to be old blood as throughout the day there was more discharge with a darker brown color to it, there was also a few clots that fell into the toilet (TMI). All of this went away on the 15th. Then on the 16th, I was getting nauseated and slightly dizzy/feeling pale. I thought my blood sugar was low so I ate some candy and I felt better. It also happened again at night. The 17th I felt fine and had my blood sugar tested which was at 87. Today, I felt nauseous again and have really really small cramps? Not severe or painful cramps, but I can feel it very slightly like if it’s almost not even there. I haven’t taken a pregnancy test since I’m afraid I might be pregnant and I’m too afraid to mention anything to my mom.

Hi, sadly I am only 17 years old and my boyfriend just recently broke up with me, but before we broke up, we had sex, and I have been freaking out wondering if I’m pregnant or not, the stress of the breakup isn’t helping, and I’ve been trying to calm down incase the baby is real. My period was supposed to come this week, on the 11th or around there. But it came last week on the 4th-5th. Normally my period is 4-5 days long, but again, it was only 2 days long. I only had very VERY light cramps on the first day and then they went away, the bleeding was light, not like my normal period, and my period is always 4 weeks apart, but this was only 3. I was convinced it was my period and I was just confused on why it was so short, but after that, I was still feeling nauseous, I’m having to pee a lot, I’m having FBM (frequent bowel movement) and having to poop a lot, my breasts did feel sore before, during and after those 2 days of bleeding, I feel bloated and look bloated too. I took a pregnancy test on Monday July 10th and it came back negative. My friend who is pregnant thinks it’s just my mind messing with me, but this time feels different from the first pregnancy scare I had. She says I should be able to take a test now, but I’m scared to take one. Any helpful thoughts or tips you ladies can give me?

I’ve never had my period this late before. Today (July 10) makes 12 days since my period is late. I’ve done pregnancy test but they are all negative. I’m having this feeling in my back, right at the tail bone like an hole is opening up. I started bleeding heavily since today. I don’t know what to do. I really needed a baby. Sighs. Can i get some advice please?

  • MissI2017 July 1, 2017, 10:53 am

I have very random cycles, it’s been 31 days since I stopped bleeding. I had literally one streak of blood when I wiped yesterday but nothing since then. Can this be implantation bleeding? When should I take a pregnancy test? I was considering waiting a week or so to see if I start but the one streak of blood has me confused. And I hadn’t had sex within the last 48 hours before the bleeding either.

    • Jass July 11, 2017, 8:20 pm

Did you turn out pregnant ? I had a thick pink discharge at first followedby a streak ofblood too and had brown pinkish discharge after .

I had a misscarriage in early march and about 3 weeks ago i had spotting all week then it stopped nothing the next week and now ive had spotting to really light bleeding for 8 days and today the 9th day it got very heavy towards the end of the day with some blood clots. This lasted for about 2 hours. I filled 2 super plus tampons. Then it just went very light again the 3rd hour. I thought it was maybe my first period after misscariage but now im confused. We’ve had unprotected sex but i dont think i was pregnant again or implantation bleeding. I had no pregnancy symptoms at all. Whats going on with me?

Did you have them tied or cut?

  • ingrid March 8, 2017, 9:53 am

My periods are usually very regular almost down to the day (I track using a period app). Leading into my expected period I had all the symptoms that could easily be either premenstrual or early pregnancy. I did have unprotected sex in my fertile time before ovulation and right after I ovulated. My period should have come 2 days ago and having been a little paranoid already I tested and It was negative. I was relieved and just waited for my period to come. It’s two days late and i’m having mild cramping and lower back pain along with a light pinkish/brown discharge but no real period. Though my periods start lighter than other times it’s usually always bright red and I can insert a tampon, in this case it was just when I wiped and a little on the panty liner but not enough to need a tampon or pad… so I’m a little confused. Last month my period was pretty heavy and very red the first day there was no mistaking it. Any ideas?

    • 7sharov-spb.ru May 26, 2017, 10:13 pm

If you had unprotected sex in your fertile time (before and after you ovulated), your lighter period might be a sign that you could be pregnant. If your home pregnancy test is still negative and you are concerned, I would go see your doctor and get a blood pregnancy test. Best of luck!

  • Sinetra February 21, 2017, 1:25 pm

I was on Depo for two years. I got my last shot August of 2016, my husband and I wanted to try for a child. So i didnt go back for my shot in Nov. I haven’t had a cycle while being on the shot the entire time and have yet to get one still, But around the first of feb. of 2017 i started spotting very lightly and it was pink in color with clear discharge mixed in. It only lasted about 3 days, at first i thought my cycle was returning after being on depo but i have no other symptoms. Took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. Could it have been to soon to detect. Please help we are really wanting a baby i just dont want to be disappointed again. Is there a better brand of test to take?

  • Marissa February 18, 2017, 10:17 am

My last period was Dec 30 of 2016. I missed last month and took several home pregnancy tests which were either inconclusive or negative. I even went to the hospital and had a urine and blood test done, and they were both negative! My breasts are tender at times, as well as my nipples. My nipples are also darker, and I’ve got little white bumps on my areolas. I’ve grown three cups sizes in two and a half months. In December I was a 38C now I’m a 38D!! But all of the tests came back negative. Now, for the past three days I’ve been spotting pink and brown blood every morning, and then it stops a little under two hours later, and I don’t bleed for the rest of the day! Anyone have any advice about what this could be? I’ve never been able to track my period, it kind of has a mind of it’s own! Sometimes I’ll miss two months and still not be pregnant, but I never had the pink and brown spotting then either! Also, because my cycle is so irregular I don’t know when it is the right time to take a pregnancy test! I’m hoping I’m pregnant, but I don’t want to get my hopes up!

  • Zahra February 17, 2017, 7:33 am

Hi i had a miscarriage on the 2oth of Jan and was bleeding for about 2 weeks afterwards…my body was feeling better so about the third week i started intercourse with my husband again. Now on the 16th of Feb i saw a really really light pink discharge which i thought may be my period had begun only to wipe the next morning and nothing is there. Can i be pregnant? Would a home pregnancy test show anything if i am?

  • Kaitlyn February 14, 2017, 9:14 am

My period is 8 days late. I normally have a 30 day cycle and i am normally regular with my period. My husband and i had unprotected sex on January 13, 19, 20, 22, 25, 30 and Feb 7, and 10th. My last period was January 7th through the 11th. About January 20th i started craving mayonnaise on everything which is really weird for me, I was eating it with steak, chicken, pork chops, absolutely everything. Also on the 20th i had terrible back pain and i was extremely crampy which is weird for me unless i am on my period. I took a home pregnancy test on Jan 29th and it was negative and then took another one on Feb 7th. Also my breasts have been super sore and sensitive. The smallest touch makes me cringe with touching them. I have been getting heartburn half way through the day no matter what i eat and that is with taking Prilosec in the mornings which i have been taking for years. All of these symptoms are just weird for me and I have been extremely moody and tired as well as everything else. Last night when i went to the bathroom when i wiped i notice some pink colored blood but then nothing this morning when i went. Now when i went later this morning for probably the third time i noticed it again. I dont know if this could be implantation bleeding or maybe the start of my period. I am not cramping or anything else with it just some light pink blood when i wipe and it is not every time i go. I am just nervous to take another home test and it be negative. I have never been pregnant before so i am just unsure what to think of all this. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Even with cramping you can still be pregnant, you just may be too early for a test to pick up. I was 6 weeks pregnant and still shooting out negative tests like crazy. I went for my ultrasound and they saw my yolk sac but no baby and told me to come back in a week. Well a week later there was my little blip. Pinkish brown… generally means implantation bleeding. Go see your doctor, just be patient as well.

I have a normal 28 day cycle. Last month started on Jan. 2nd-5th, 2017, I ovulated on the 16th and on 12 days past ovulation, I had cramps and started bleeding very lightly and it was pinkish-red in color. This lasted for about 4 days on and off (Jan. 28th- Feb. 1st) and then completely stopped. My cycles normally start heavy with clots and end light. I have tested several time and all my test were negative (while bleeding an three times afterward). Since then, I’ve lower back pain, soft cramps at night and nausea, twinges in my breast and sore nipples on and off. I’m just confused on what this could be. (TMI – I’m also secreting a milky-white discharge.)

I’m guessing that you are using a home pregnancy test right? Don’t fully trust it! Your body might have enough “pregnant” hormone for the test to detect. Just go to your doctor to be absolutely sure!

Yes, I have been using home pregnancy test including First Response and Clear Blue Digital. They’ve all been negative but my cramps, backache, nauseous and vivid dreams are screaming something different to me. I know my body and I just know something is up with it.

Trying for baby # 3 I did 3 pregnancy tests over the past week. My husband and I did the deed on the 28th and 30th and on the 30th it just clicked in my brain that something was different. I just knew I had to be pregnant, all were negative. My husband and kids all got the flu shortly around Feb 2, 2017 I did not but I have been nauseous, certain smells turn me off. even thinking of certain foods like yogurt makes me queasy. I have wicked bad cramps like UGH!!! My period was supposed to start 2 days ago I woke up this morning with very light bleeding. I agree something is up with me too… Both my girls I had no nausea or anything so here is hoping this is a boy. Lol

My last period started January 15 and ended the 20th. I had unprotected sex the 28th of January. I’m not due for my next period until the 12th of February, give or take a day, but I started spotting a light pinkish and brown color on Feb 2. Its the fourth now and I woke up to a bright red/pink color with hardly any or no clotting with it. I don’t ever have irregular periods and they’ve never started a week early. They are usually heavy and dark in color with a normal amount of clotting and my cramps usually have me in a fetal position or laying on a heating pad because the pain is so bad. I have mild cramping and tender, tingly, sore, swollen breasts right now. They’ve felt like that for a few days now. I’m more tired than normal with no energy and some nausea. Im too afraid to take an at home test incase it’s too early. Could I be pregnant or just having an early period?

I had the exact thing happen except my last period started Dec. 31. I have a 28 day cycle and was 8 days late. Today was day 9. I started having some blood this afternoon. It hasn’t been very heavy or any clotting like my normal period. I’m always on time or even a day after with my period. I’m a little cofused, but still hoping to be pregnant! The doc is going to test my blood Monday.

I had my period the 1st-5th of January and I had sex 14, 15, and 16th with my boyfriend. All three days were unprotected. I was suppose to get my period the 29th. It’s the 30th today and I woke up with a lighter period then normal and it doesn’t have blood clots, and is a little more brownish than a normal period. The 22nd of January I started to feel some symptoms, such as extreme sore breasts, darkened areolas, more visible blue veins in my breasts, bloating, and mood swings. A couple days after the 22nd probably around that next Monday I started to feel really nauseous, and I began to feel more hungry, and I felt as if I couldn’t hold my pee in as long as I’m normally able to. Just a couple of days before my period was due I started to pee a lot more. I began to have this constant feeling of pressure on my lower stomach making me feel like I have to pee. I have been peeing an abnormally increased amount of times a day within the last couple of days. My boyfriend and I are convinced that I am pregnant, but we are going to wait until I stop this lighter “period” to take a test.

And just to add, all of these is very different for me because my period is usually always on the day of, always the same kind of flow, the same color, and I have never had my breasts hurt or feel heavy before my period so this if very strange for me and I had sex around the time I should’ve been fertile so it’s all just making sense.

I had sex January 1st and then had what seemed like my period on Jan 1st that lasted about 4 days. Usually my cycle is pretty regular and consistent no bleeding in between.

Then I had some spotting Light pink blood on January 13th-14th lasted 1 1/2 day ish.

And now today Fri Jan 27th around the time my period’s due I have brownish/light pink/red discharge with no cramps, I can’t tell whether it’s my period or if it’s something else.

Please Help, I am so confused by all of this.
