PMS or Pregnancy Symptoms?

PMS vs Pregnancy

PMS or Pregnancy?

This is very commonly asked question, and unfortunately, there is no easy answer. PMS symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms can be eerily similar, and it can be hard for you to distinguish between the two. The easiest way to find out if you’re pregnant is to take a home pregnancy test. (Or better – make an appointment with your gynecologist or doctor and get a blood pregnancy test to see if you have any pregnant hormones in your blood stream.)

Women who have never been pregnant before may have a more difficult time distinguishing pregnancy from PMS. But women who have had children and have indeed been pregnant in the past will tell you that it can be hard to tell the two apart.

If you’ve been trying to conceive, or on the flip side, if you are worried about an unplanned or unexpected pregnancy, this article will help you understand the difference between PMS and early pregnancy symptoms.

Common PMS Symptoms

Premenstrual syndrome – or PMS for short – are symptoms that women can start to experience 1 to 2 weeks before your period. They typically strike after ovulation (day 14 of your menstrual cycle, if you have a regular 28-day cycle). PMS symptoms go away after you start your period. And of course, they come back again a few weeks later. That is the joy of being a woman!

Women experience PMS in different ways and in varying degree of severity. For some women, they have such severe PMS symptoms that it disrupts their daily lives. For others, their PMS is just annoying.

The most common PMS symptoms include swollen and tender breasts (which can be a common early pregnancy symptom); fatigue and tiredness (another possible sign you’re pregnant); bloating (yet another pregnancy symptom); headaches; anxiety and depression along with mood swings; food cravings (which also strike when you are pregnant); joint and muscle pain; harder time with concentration and your memory; and menstrual cramps.

As you can see, all of these premenstrual symptoms are identical to early pregnancy symptoms and signs of pregnancy. So it can be super easy to confuse the two of them apart, especially if your period is late.

Women who are trying to conceive, who chart their basal body temperature on a regular basis, may have an easier time answering the question, “Is it PMS or Pregnancy?” But most women who are sexually active with a late or delayed period will have a really hard time telling the two apart.

EEK!

So how can you tell whether your symptoms are PMS or pregnancy symptoms? A home pregnancy test, or a blood pregnancy test taken at your doctor’s office, is the easiest way to find out.

Early Signs of Pregnancy

What makes PMS versus Pregnancy such a complicated issue is the fact that the earliest signs of pregnancy can appear in the first weeks after you conceive – even before you’ve missed a period.

  • Having tender, swollen breasts (just like with PMS) is a very common first sign of pregnancy. They may feel tingly, sensitive to touch and even full. It’s really uncomfortable but it may be a warning sign that you’ve conceived, and your breasts are getting revved up for breastfeeding in nine months.
  • Nausea is a classic pregnancy symptom; however, you should know that some women can also get nauseous when they PMS. It’s a less common PMS symptom, but it does happen.
  • Extreme exhaustion and fatigue (another PMS symptom) can also mean that you’ve conceived and are expecting a baby. This is actually one of the first signs that you’ll notice. It’s like an overwhelming tiredness, like you’ve been running a marathon and you just want to collapse and rest.
  • Food cravings (or aversions) can also signal that you’re pregnant. But again, some women who have PMS typically eat more and often crave certain foods, like chocolate.
  • Mood swings, crying spells and feeling weepy, is another early sign of pregnancy, but it is also very common when you have PMS.
  • Spotting and cramping may be a sign of implantation – the embryo (growing baby) has implanted itself into the wall of your uterus. Not all women experience implantation bleeding (which is very light in nature), but it is considered one of the very first signs of pregnancy. Along with spotting, some women feel abdominal cramping, similar to the menstrual cramping you experience during your period. You might just feel achy, and this might be a clue that your little one has successfully implanted itself.

Some women who get pregnant don’t experience any of these early signs and symptoms of pregnancy. But they are classic pregnancy symptoms that can be easily misinterpreted as just plain PMS.

If you think there is a chance that you could be expecting, you should make an appointment with your doctor or healthcare provider to take a home pregnancy test. Remember, if you are pregnant, the earlier you start getting prenatal care, the healthier your pregnancy and your baby will be!

Now, let’s discuss the common symptoms of PMS and Pregnancy.

Fatigue and Exhaustion – Both a PMS and Pregnancy Symptom

A vast majority of women experience fatigue and tiredness when they are PMSing. You might not experience fatigue every single month, but chances are you’ve experienced PMS fatigue before.

Fatigue is actually one of the first pregnancy symptoms to show up. It can strike about one week after conception – before you’ve even missed a period. This early pregnancy symptom is caused by increased levels of progesterone, a hormone that helps support the pregnancy and baby.

Some pregnant women describe pregnancy fatigue to be very similar to the very worst PMS fatigue. You are just so exhausted that all you want to do is take a nap. Fortunately, fatigue dissipates and goes away for a little while during the second trimester.

Fatigue is a common symptom to both PMS and Pregnancy.

Tender and Swollen Breasts – Symptoms of Both

Breast changes are common to both pregnancy and PMS.

After ovulation, some women with PMS may notice that your breasts become swollen, enlarged and are tender to touch. For smaller breasted women, this uncomfortable PMS symptoms causes your breasts to grow and they are bigger than normal. But it’s only temporary, because they will go back to their regular size after your period begins.

Tender and swollen breasts are also a very common pregnancy symptom, and one of the first signs of pregnancy. Your breasts can be tender, or they can feel sore and tingly. You might notice that they are fuller and heavier. Breast changes in pregnancy can occur as early as two weeks post-conception.

Mood Swings and Crying Spells – PMSing and Pregnant Women

PMS can come with crazy mood swings. You’re happy and laughing one minute, and the next, someone says something that you take completely the wrong way and it has you angry or in tears. You don’t know what’s wrong with you, or why your hormones are so out of whack and you are so emotional. Sound familiar?

Mood swings, crying spells, irritability, and emotional changes are also very common in early pregnancy. All those hormones in a pregnant woman’s body can make her very moody and emotional.

Because both PMS mood swings and Pregnancy emotional changes are nearly identical to each other, it can be hard to tell whether you’re just PMSing or if you’re pregnant based on this symptom alone.

Food Cravings – Premenstrual Symptom and Classic Pregnancy

This is yet another shared symptom of PMS and Pregnancy.

When you are experience premenstrual symptoms, you can definitely notice a change in your eating habits. Some premenstruating women may eat more, because all of a sudden their appetite just explodes. Others may start to crave chocolate and other sweets. And yet others have more of a hankering for salty foods. Food cravings are very common when you are PMSing.

Likewise, this is yet another common pregnancy symptom. Some pregnant women may have an increased appetite. However, in early pregnancy, food aversions are also common. Certain smells and tastes just are repulsive to you. Even a slight whiff of it may trigger your nausea and morning sickness to strike.

Food aversion is classic to early pregnancy, and it can be an indication that you’re going to have a baby.

Acne and Breakouts – Yet Another Shared Symptom

Hormones can wreck havoc on your skin, both when you are PMSing and when you’re pregnant.

When you’re expecting, you have higher levels of androgens (a hormone), which cause the sebaceous glands in your skin to get larger and these hormones also increase oil production and this can clog your pores and prompt you to have more breakouts and acne. In fact, it’s not uncommon for many moms-to-be to feel like their teenage years are back with their acne.

Similarly, premenstrual women also experience more breakouts and worst acne during PMS. Some studies estimate that as high as 78% of adult acne in women experience these unwanted pimples and zits during PMS. In fact, it’s called premenstrual acne, and it is a real phenomenon. It all has to do with the hormonal fluctuations that occur during a normal menstrual cycle. For this reason, hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills and shots) have long been used to help reduce premenstrual breakouts.

Darn those hormones causing this shared symptom of PMS and pregnancy!

Bloating and Weight Gain – PMS and Pregnancy

Who doesn’t dread the bloating you experience before your period arrives? Your bra starts to feel tight, as your breasts swell up; your stomach tends to stick out a little further, making your pants feel tighter than normal. Many women even can gain a few extra pounds. PMS bloating sucks (and luckily, it goes away when you start your period).

Out of all the annoying PMS symptoms, bloating (or water retention) and the extra weight gain it can bring are one of the most hated premenstrual symptoms.

In early pregnancy, bloating is one of the very first signs of pregnancy. And it can be incredibly difficult to distinguish pregnancy bloating from your PMS bloating, since they feel similar. Your pants might start to feel tight, and you might even notice a little pooch. The pregnancy hormone, progesterone, is to blame for your pregnancy bloating, and it definitely sucks.

Since it can be hard to determine what’s the cause of your bloating – normal premenstrual symptoms or you’re pregnant- you should take a home pregnancy test after you’ve missed your period.

Morning Sickness and Nausea – A Hallmark of Pregnancy

Even if you know nothing about pregnancy symptoms, you know that morning sickness is a classic and an infamous pregnancy symptom. According to researchers, up to 90 percent of all expectant mothers will experience morning sickness (nausea and/or vomiting) to some degree during their 40 weeks of pregnancy? The 10 percent of women who are incredibly lucky will never get nauseous or even feel an inkling of when pregnant.

Morning sickness can begin as early as two weeks after you conceive.

Nausea can be a PMS symptom, but it’s only a small percentage of women who actually experience nausea during their premenstrual weeks. So nausea can be common to both PMS and Pregnancy.

Missed Period – Only Pregnancy

PMS ends when you have your period, and an absence of a period means that you’re most likely period. However, a late or delayed period can make it tricky to figure out whether you’re going to be a mother or not.

If you’ve always had regular periods – a menstrual period every single month without fail – experiencing a missed period is definitely the first and unmistakable sign of pregnancy.

Some pregnant women may experience light bleeding or spotting, which can be mistaken for a regular period or a light period, especially if they’ve had irregular periods in the past. This spotting during pregnancy is a sign of implantation – the fertilized egg burrowing itself into the lining of your uterus, where it will make a nice and healthy home for itself of the next nine months.

For a small percentage of women, they may spot randomly on and off throughout their pregnancy. Occasional spotting can be considered normal, but it may also be a sign of a miscarriage.

In fact, because spotting is so confusing, if you’ve ever watched “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on Discovery Health, most of those women never realized they were pregnant because they experienced spotting during their pregnancy, which they mistakenly believed was a period.

Implantation spotting doesn’t look like your regular menstrual flow. It’s lighter in flow, and the color is usually a light pink or brownish coffee grounds kind of color.

Ovulation Symptoms

Because PMS symptoms occur in the days and weeks following ovulation, it’s important that you are aware of ovulation symptoms. Sometimes, PMS symptoms are actually ovulation symptoms. It’s important that you’re aware of these symptoms for many reasons – including the fact that it’s good to be aware of your body’s changes, especially if you’re wondering “Am I pregnant?” And if you are trying to conceive, knowing your ovulation symptoms may help improve your chances of getting pregnant.

Women with a regular 28-day cycle will ovulate around day 14 (the second week after their last period begins). Around this time, you might notice some of the following symptoms of ovulation

Cervical mucus changes – A common sign of ovulation is a difference in your cervical mucus. Around the time you ovulate, your vaginal discharge might be transparent, like the color of egg whites. You will have a lot more discharge than normal, and when you examine your mucus, you will notice that it’s sticky and stretchy. You can actually hold it between your thumb and index finger and stretch it for about an inch, and it will not break.

Basal Body Temperature Increase – As you may have noticed in the PMS vs. Pregnancy chart above, premenstrual women and expectant mothers will experience a rise in their basal body temperature. During ovulation, you can expect your BBT to rise between 0.5 to 1.5 degrees. Your BBT will remain higher until you have your period, when it will decrease. If you happen to be pregnant, your basal body temperature will remain high and not decrease.

Abdominal Cramping or Pain on One Side – Called Mittelschmerz (or “middle pain”), this is a common ovulation symptom that roughly 1 in 5 women will experience. The abdominal discomfort can be mild or severe excruciating pain. It doesn’t last too long, and it’s caused by the bursting of the egg from the follicle during ovulation.

Spotting – Light spotting is also a common ovulation symptom. Not all ovulating women experience spotting, but it can occur.

Are You Pregnant?

After reading the above PMS and early pregnancy symptoms, and you believe you might be pregnant, go take a home pregnancy test or schedule an appointment with your doctor or healthcare provider and get a blood pregnancy test.

The best time, and you will get the most accurate result, is if you take a home pregnancy test after you’ve missed your period. Different HPTs have varying degrees of sensitivity – some are more sensitive to the pregnancy hormone, hCG than others. Sometimes, if you test too early, you will get a negative result even if you are pregnant, because not enough of the hormone has built up in your bloodstream. In other cases, testing too early may give you a false positive result. In these situations, you get a positive result and then end up getting your period. What you experienced is a chemical pregnancy, or a very early miscarriage.

So if you are wondering if you are pregnant, or just experience PMS symptoms, test, test, and test for pregnancy, since it is really the only surefire way to figure out. And if you are ever worried about anything, contact your gynecologist or healthcare provider and make an appointment.

If you routinely get confused about whether it’s pregnancy or PMS, I’d recommend using a period tracker app to keep track of your cycle. I have used one for 5+ years to chart my cycle, and it’s incredibly accurate!

Best luck to you!

Hello..I’m 39 yrs old, I’ve had my tubes tied since Oct of 05. This month I started my “pms” like normal, feeling bloated, tired, breast tenderness, and occasionally sick to my stomach. 2 days later I started bleeding, but it only lasted for 2 1/2 days. This was almost 2 weeks ago and the other pre symptoms have yet to go away. My breast hurt so bad and all I want to do is sleep. Please help, what could this be?

Hey ladies x I’m 27 my periods are irregular but the only pms symptoms iv ever had are constipation 2 days prior to period, severe bloating and tummy cramps two days into period. I got the bloat over a week ago, but this time my breasts are huge, hard as rocks and soooo sore. Lower back pain too and exhausted despite eating well and lots of rest. No sign of my period.. I had unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend, I know no one needs to say this was silly because I know it was but it happens. I am irritable and have a very upset stomach and feel a bit nauseous after food, il eat because I know I need to but I’m not feeling hungry at all. I started the gym a week ago so I’m a little confused as to whether my symptoms are from this or the sign I may be pregnant. The biggest factor for me is that at aged 27 my boobs have never been this hard in all my time of periods! Il do a test tomorrow first thing but I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this? Thank you xxx

  • Kayla December 14, 2016, 3:03 pm

    Hi.
So first things firsts, my periods are never EXACTLY 28 -30 days apart. They’re usually either a day early or a few days late. Not 100% sure of my ovulation either, but according to the period tracker i use, i was ovulating Nov 20 – Nov 26. My boyfriend and I has sex every single one of those days, sometimes more than once. we never use protection, however, during this period he did do the good ol pull out method. I should have started my period on Dec 8, but it didn’t come. So, my boyfriend had sex on the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th, and seeing as i figured i wasn’t ovulating, he didn’t pull out. We aren’t trying but we’re more like “well if it happens it happens”. I’m now 5 days late. Symptoms i have:
    1. Breast/nipple tenderness (nipples are itchy and kind of tinted purple?), not really tender to touch, but feels like pressure, they’re heavy, i find myself slouching more than ever (i already have DD breasts, so you can imagine)
    2. low back pain (kind of like cramps), but this pain is a dull ache, where as my cramps are more like a sharp pain and often times travels to my tailbone.
    3. i’ve been getting little dizzy spells all day today (day 5 late period), this is the first i’ve noticed this.
    4. i’ve been freakishly tired. I’m a heavy coffee drinker, i usually have anywhere from 3 to 4 cups a day, but the past week i havent been craving it and i havent felt the need to have the extra cup or two per day (higher energy in the afternoon), and have been going off two cups a day but by 830PM i’m ready for bed. (Example, i was in bed at 930 last night and was asleep by 1030, 630 AM rolled around and i have to fight myself to get out of bed, and i didnt wake up once)
    5. Cervical area & mucus… I was very very lightly spotting on the 12th, and im talking LIGHT. mucus has been the same for 4 days. Creamy and has a scent. It’s not like a fishy scent, but its definitely off from what im used to. Chance of STI’s are impossible as my boyfriend and i got tested in October and everything came back negative (spare me the bashing, i know he hasn’t cheated on me either..)
    6. I’m a sufferer of severe PMS. I cry, i bitch, i moan, i eat more chocolate than i should and i act like i’m a mental case. this never fails and is my notification to my period coming the following week. This is like clockwork, its like this every month, however this month i did not get it. I was irritable on Monday, but nothing as bad to my actual pms.

all of that being said. I took a pregnancy test Monday when i realized i was 3 days late, and it was negative, and i took another just this afternoon and that was negative as well. However, when i take pregnancy tests, i usually pee in a cup and dip the stick, and the test i did this afternoon i did not, i peed directly on the stick but i’m pretty sure it was for less than 5 seconds.. I did buy another test for the morning, but I am wondering with all my symptoms, could i be pregnant regardless a negative test?

    • jas August 29, 2017, 11:53 am

so did you end up with positive or negative?

  • Morgan November 8, 2016, 10:51 pm

Hi curious for an opinion. My next due cycle will be 11/11/16 and I’ve been experiencing some cramping in my lower abdomen and little like “flutters” sensation that I don’t usually have, have been sleepy more and also been giving my fiancée some hell in which he surely doesn’t deserve. I usually don’t have mood swings this bad. We frequently have unprotected sex but I haven’t gotten pregnant for the last 9 months.. we surely wouldn’t mind it though. Could I be experiencing early symptoms?

    • Morgan November 8, 2016, 11:02 pm

Also I’ve had lots of extra milky like colored discharge that I’ve never had before between periods, to the point that I’ve had to change panties first thing!

  • Alaisha November 7, 2016, 12:03 pm

Hi, my period last was october 15, it lasted for 4 and i ovulated on the 28th. I had unprotected sex w my bf on that 28th and the 29th.Ive been experiencing cramping, fatigue, hard staying focus, mood swing (been more upset than usual), and swollen breast, feeling nauseous and more discharge. My period is irregular so when do i take the test? A lot of people say im pregnany but i wanna know for sure

  • October 12, 2016, 1:45 pm

The start of my last period was 9/23/16
There is about an 24 day average between cycles….. I had sex on 9/24/16 so obviously during my cycle…… I’m really not sure when I ovulate because of how my cycles have been…
He did cum in me, but I did not think much of it, because I was on my period…… But now for the past week in a half I have had these symptoms….. Bloating, light headed, swollen sensitive clit, heavy swollen sore breast, itchy nipples, tiredness, constipation, just feeling life I’m getting sick…… .. Took a pregnancy Test 16 and 18 days after I had sex left but the test came back negative…… Not sure what’s going on… :/

    • Casten October 16, 2016, 4:23 pm

OMG Nina!!! I am experiencing the EXACT same things, except for the itchy nipples. My last cycle was 9/24 and only last 3 maybe 4 days when normally its 5 days long. Had sex on 9/28, 9/29, 10/1, 10/2, 10/4, 10/7, and 10/8. I know me and my boyfriend have been at it like rabbits but we aren’t “trying” for a little one. But he did bust in me on 10/1 and 10/2. I’m not sure if I am but I surely think so.

I am almost 2 months late on my period. About a week before my period in may I spotted light pink just enough to get on the toilet for about 3 days. And I started getting nauseous and then it quit. Now I’m having mood swings so bad. Like I would just jump on everybody for no reason. And I’m having headaches everyday there’s not a day that don’t go by that I don’t have a head I’ve took so many home test and they all were negative.
    Can someone help me. Thanks.

It must be a hormonal imbalance. You should see a doctor. This way you will receive a treatment to get your hormones back in track.

  • Summer Hope June 13, 2016, 6:02 pm

I am not quite sure who to ask, so I turn to the internet. After several weeks of research, I think I may have successfully stressed myself out even more… My period begins around the 7th or 9th of the month and lasts about 5-7 days. In April, I had my period on the 7th through the 11th. On the 23rd of April, I had engaged in sexual intercourse. The following week, though, I got real sick – come to find out that I had tonsillitis. Here’s the thing: On the 28th of April, I woke up to find that I had stained my underwear because my “period” came. From the 28th to the 29th of April, I had a flow heavy enough to wear I had to wear pads (several blood clots, too). But by the evening of the 29th, the flow had come to a stop. With the exception of a small leak on the 30th, all I had was spotting. My friends speculated that my early and whacked out period was due to me being sick and incredibly stressed out… So I waited it out, nervously. I have this app on my phone that calculates your periods. According to the app, my next period was due on the 27th of May. Instead, it came on the 23rd and lasted until the 28th. I had, again, a flow in which I was forced to wear pads and dealt with the cramps that come with Aunt Flo. But what worries me is that, according to what I read online, people said they still had “period – like” bleeding all throughout their pregnancy or at least for the first few months. I also read that people still tested negative and found out in month 5 or so that they were pregnant. Could there be a possibility that I am pregnant? Or was what I had actually my period?

    • August 3, 2016, 6:00 am

Omg! The very thing happened to me! I usually start between the 27-29…but I came on the 21! I bled the whole 3 days with cramping. But it seemed like it took a few days to die down. I’m still cramping to this day. Monday I was cramping kinda bad, I went to the bathroom and there was some blood when I wiped. I too a pregnancy test last Friday and it came back negative. My breast fill full too! I’m going to wait another week or so to retest.

    • Kristina August 25, 2016, 11:57 am

I am having a similar experience. I stopped taking the pill in Jan. or Feb. My period cycle got a little out of whack due to it, but then got back on track; every 28-30 days. And for May, June, and July, it came on the exact day that my Women Log Pro app predicted it, and lasted 5-6 days. My husband and I had unprotected sex around the end of July, about a week and a half before my period was to start. Well this time, my “period” started a day or two earlier than predicted, and only lasted 3 days. By day 4 the bleeding was light enough that i didn’t even need to wear a tampon. I thought this was strange because it came earlier, when usually, if the timing is off, it comes later, not earlier. and the blood/flow was a little different that what i usually experience too. Normally it starts out light, gradually gets heavier, and then starts to get lighter and lighter until it’s done. This time, it was pretty heavy from the start. I took a home test and it came back negative, but i think i did it wrong (wrong time of day, and drank a ton of water right before). The only symptom i “think” i am having is extreme nausea, which is not normal for me, even during PMS. Some days i dont have it at all, and some days i do, and usually it hits me when i’m starting to get hungry (around lunch time, before dinner, and sometimes late at night depending on how big my dinner was). I have also been craving burnt food, like toast and beef (weird for me too). My next period is due in a few days, and i have been feeling what i think are normal PMS symptoms, like some mild cramping. I am anxious to see what happens in the next few days. if my period comes then i will guess i am not preggo, but if it doesnt i will definitely be taking another test and/or going to the doctor.

Why are a bunch of women asking if they’re pregnant to strangers over the internet when they should be asking their doctor. NOBODY is going to be your 100% accurate pregnancy test over the internet! PMS and pregnancy symptoms are similar. If you’re fishing for a, “Yes, you’re pregnant” then you need to go to your doctor’s office. That’s the right pond to be fishing out of for an answer that you want to hear.

    • Sarah April 25, 2016, 2:06 am

So,, why then are you in this pond? Do you just randomly go to sites just for the heck of it just to make silly comments ?? Not everyone can afford to go to a doctor every time they have a question. Some want to hear a opinion or personal experience from someone who didn’t read it out of a book or who won’t have anything to profit from financially off of curiosity! Dr will say anything to make a buck. If you’re so bothered by other women seeking advice, answers or comfort from other women on the ney, then don’t go on to these sites! Simply your problem is solved. …

    Can anybody help me?

I’m not 100% on dates etc. Of my last period, but they are usually regular and around the same time as my partners mother (sounds strange but only way I can describe it) well last week she had hers and I usually start the same day or the day after. I haven’t had my periods but I am sexually active and we havent used protection. I came off birth control in January and my periods have still been regular since. But the last 2 weeks my nipples have been really tender and sore to touch and feel and look slightly bigger. It sometimes hurts having sex, and I’m bloated. Ive also been tired a lot more than usual and out of breath so easily. I’ve been waking through the night up to 4 times a night either needing a drink or to pee, this doesn’t happen often, its only usually when I’m ill but I’m not ill. I’ve been thirsty a lot and needing to pee a lot as well, and its always a lot of pee and I can’t hold it long at all. I’ve been feeling sick as well, mostly in the mornings and at night. I started bleeding tonight, but its not a lot at all like its a tiny amount and nothing like my periods which are usually heavy, cramping is really bad to the point I’m doubled over in agony and can barely walk far. I haven’t took a test yet as I haven’t really got the money to buy one at the minute. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? Or am I over reacting?

    • Erica April 22, 2016, 5:22 am

I think you definitely sound pregnant, you should take a test if you havent already

My boobs became Fuller and my areolas got larger but they aren’t sore yet. Got cramps yesterday but it was mild and it just stopped and cramps didn’t came back today and also an on and off what pain on my lower abdomen. I’m also bloating and I thirst more than my normal days. And I feel tired and wanna go nap always. Could I be pregnant? It would be a great joy for me to know that I am really pregnant.

Hello I have a question to ask I had unprotected sex with my husband and I was three days in my period but then after that my periods stopped after the week i started to have cravings frequent urination I’ve even had pregnancy test and it came up as negitive my blood group is zero negitive and I’m just wondering maybe that’s why its not showing accurately should I have a blood test?
As Its my second time I did the pregnancy test and both of them came as negitive
    Am I pregnant ?..

    • Adrianna February 4, 2016, 12:54 pm

What kind of test did you take? I’d get blood work done. Some women don’t pop positive on a hpt but are indeed pregnant. When is your period due and are you late?

  • Maria January 14, 2016, 12:59 am

Hello, my bf and I had unprotected sex on Dec. 18 & 21…on the morning of Dec.26 I had a slightly bleeding (pink). I was suppose to get my period on Monday January 4, 2016, it is January 13 and I still don’t get my period. I am pretty much normal on a 28 cycle, lately I have headaches, back pain (doesn’t let me sleep), a little of nausea, I have gain weight, my breast feel weird(they look weird too, around the nipple it is darker color), increase in appetite. I took a home pregnancy test on the 4th of January it came out negative so I went to a doctor on the 7th and the urine test came out negative as well…Can I be pregnant or what can possibly be going on?

  • Niki December 31, 2015, 10:54 am

I am 7 days late on a very clockwork 28 day cycle. I had breast tenderness for weeks which has calmed, I have lower abdominal cramps and slight nausea and some food aversion. I am also always sleepy. I took a pregnancy test 3 days after my missed period and it was negative. Considering just waiting and going in for a blood test. This would be a 1st pregnancy for me. Any advice ?

  • Jazmine December 29, 2015, 6:47 am

Hi i need help. I had sex last december 18 and 19. We used condom though but i am paranoid of getting pregnant so i took ecp on the 20th at 11:32pm and another dosage on the 21st at 11:32am. My last period was december 7. Until now i still haven’t bleed, it is expected to bleed 7 days after taking ecp. Why is it like this? Am i pregnant? I expect my next period on the 1st of January, i’m afraid i’ll miss my next period. 3 days more to go and i haven’t feel PMS which i usually feel whenever my period is coming.
Could anybody answer my situation? Any response is much appreciated. Thank you.

I had unprotected sex about a week and 5 days ago. He didnt come inside me at all and he wasnt even that close. Ive been freaking out because Ive been getting weird symptoms and maybe its just all in my head because I havent stopped worrying since it happened. For the past 2-3 days my breast have been sore but its not bad at all its just light and only on the nipples. Ive had sore breasts before periods before but i still worry. I have not been tired at all during the day so that makes me think that everything is fine. these past 2 days ive been peeing a bit more but its not too bad. Also Ive been getting some headaches. I guess the thing that worried me the most are my breasts. My period is due to come tomorrow. Should i wait and see and if i dont get it get a pregnancy test? ive hhad my period up to 4 days late before.

Girl, go and get you a blood test from your doctor. Blood test are a lot more accurate then at home pregnancy test. Blood test can show/read hcg levels better than ruin test can
